Navigating the MT5 Interface

A quick guide to the main elements of the MetaTrader 5 workspace.

Market Watch Panel (Ctrl+M)

Located on the left side, this panel shows all available instruments with live bid/ask prices. Right-click to add or remove instruments, open a chart, or place a trade.

Chart Window

The main area where price charts are displayed. You can:

  • Change timeframes (M1 to Monthly) from the toolbar

  • Apply indicators (Insert → Indicators)

  • Draw trendlines, support/resistance levels, and other objects

  • Switch between candlestick, bar, and line charts

Navigator Panel (Ctrl+N)

Shows your accounts, indicators, Expert Advisors, and scripts. Drag and drop items from here onto your charts.

Toolbox / Terminal (Ctrl+T)

Located at the bottom, this area contains several tabs:

  • Trade: Shows your open positions, balance, equity, and margin

  • Exposure: Summarizes your total exposure by currency

  • History: Shows your closed trades and account history

  • News: Market news feed

  • Alerts: Custom price and indicator alerts

  • Journal: System messages and error logs

Toolbar

The top toolbar provides quick access to chart types, timeframes, drawing tools, and order placement.
